Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; southwestern British Columbia to Baja California, east to Idaho.
Habitat: Dry coniferous forests at low to moderate elevations.

Rhizomatous, saprophytic perennials, usually 1-4.5 dm tall.
Leaves generally absent or not detectable.
Inflorescences several, 4-24 flowered; flowers 9-15 mm broad; petals 5, white to pinkish; stamens 10, bending inward, not awned; ovary 5-celled; style 3-7 mm, bending to one side, often with ring under stigma.
Pendulous, dry capsules with cobweb-like tissue exposed at dehiscence.
